GILBERT, Ariz. (AP) - Authorities say a student suffered a small neck wound after being stabbed in the neck with a small pocket knife by another Higley High School student in Gilbert.

Gilbert police say the 15-year-old student didn’t need medical treatment for a superficial slash along his neck Wednesday.

Higley High administrators say there was an altercation between students as they were switching classes in a hallway.

Both the victim and the 17-year-old suspect met with school administrators and the police say the older boy was cooperating with school officials and law enforcement in the investigation.

The victim went home with his parents and police say the suspect could be facing assault charges.

The names of the students weren’t being released.
