JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) - A Jacksonville teen is charged with beating his mother’s boyfriend to death after the man reportedly insulted the teen’s mother and grandmother.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reports that 19-year-old Gerrod Antonio Jones was arrested and charged with murder Tuesday. He was being held without bond.

Authorities say 42-year-old Darnell Williams Jr. called the women derogatory names during an argument last month about Williams coming home after drinking. When Jones confronted Williams, the older man tried to call 911. But police say Jones picked up Williams and slammed him on his head and then punched and stomped on his chest and head area until he lost consciousness.

The Florida Times-Union (https://goo.gl/f7LWPu ) reports that Jones turned himself in after seeing local media reports that he was wanted on a murder charge.
