LUMBERTON, N.C. (AP) - Authorities in Robeson County have charged an 18-year-old woman with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a man they say was arguing with her boyfriend.

Local media outlets report Tierra Kay Hammonds is being held without bond in the county jail. It couldn’t be determined if Hammonds has an attorney.

A statement from the sheriff’s office said deputies responded to a call at a home Tuesday, where they found 36-year-old William Christopher Hardin lying in a carport with a gunshot wound to the head.

Investigators say the boyfriend hit Hardin multiple times with a stick before Hammonds got out of a car where she had been waiting with a handgun. The investigators said after Hardin was shot, Hammonds and her boyfriend got back into the car and drove off.
