NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - An 83-year-old woman who was sexually assaulted at a Connecticut motel in June 2014 has filed a federal lawsuit against the motel’s management company and the front desk clerk who was working that night.

The woman, who is not identified in court papers, says the clerk saw her on the second floor of the Quality Inn in Windsor Locks with former state trooper Jeffrey LaPorto after leaving the bar. Her room was on the first floor.

The lawsuit says the clerk led the 44-year-old LaPorto and the woman back to her room and should have anticipated he would harm her.

Sarah Lee, a spokeswoman for Choice Hotels, which includes Quality Inn, said the company will not comment on pending lawsuits.

LaPorto is serving a two-year sentence on a sexual assault conviction.
