MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont’s congressional delegation says six communities are going to be getting almost $300,000 in federal grants to restore and grow parks and build community playgrounds.

The Land And Water Conservation Fund Grants were announced Wednesday by U.S. Sens. Patrick Leahy and Bernie Sanders and U.S. Rep. Peter Welch.

The grants will be used to rebuild community playgrounds, repair local swimming pools and add around 42 acres to existing parks.

The grants are being distributed in Johnson, Dorset, Chester, Shelburne, Barnet and Springfield.
