TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - Former Alabama defensive back Eddie Williams won’t serve time in jail after pleading guilty to robbery.

Tuscaloosa County Circuit Judge Charles Malone sentenced the 22-year-old Williams to five years of probation on Monday for his role in two on-campus robberies of students in February 2013.

Williams and three other players - linebackers D.J. Pettway and Tyler Hayes and running back Brent Calloway - were dismissed from school after the robberies.

Pettway was readmitted to Alabama after attending a junior college and played in every game on the defensive line last season.

Hayes and Williams confessed to robbing a student who was punched and kicked.

Williams told police Pettway and Hayes waited in a nearby vehicle about an hour later while he knocked out and robbed another student.
