UPPER TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Both southbound lanes have reopened on the Garden State Parkway’s Great Egg Harbor Bay bridge.

Motorists faced delays after one lane was closed on Wednesday because a giant concrete beam fell as workers tried to load it on a truck.

A contractor had to break it up in order to haul it away.

The beam was part of the new Great Egg Harbor Bridge project along the Garden State Parkway. The span, over Great Egg Harbor Bay, connects Somers Point with Upper Township.

The project started in 2013 and is scheduled to be completed next year.
