BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - Authorities say a mother and her boyfriend are being charged with capital murder in the beating death of the woman’s 3-year-old daughter.

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department says 23-year-old Misty Lynn Wright and 39-year-old Johnathon Wayne Talley are being held without bond in the death of Jettie Adams.

Court records aren’t yet available to show whether either Wright or Talley has an attorney who could comment on their behalf.

The capital charges were announced Thursday. The two were previously charged with aggravated child abuse in the death of the girl, who was found unresponsive on the porch of a home on Monday.

Authorities say the child suffered severe injuries that are consistent with repeated blows to the head, chest and abdomen.
