YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (AP) - A trial has been scheduled for next year for a northeast Ohio man charged in an arson fire that killed a 10-year-old girl and her grandparents.

The Vindicator in Youngstown reports (https://bit.ly/1KQU577 ) 46-year-old Robert Seman Jr.’s trial has been set for September 2016. The resident of Green appeared in court Tuesday for a pretrial hearing.

Authorities say 63-year-old William Schmidt, 61-year-old Judith Schmidt and 10-year-old Corinne Gump were killed in the fire. Prosecutors say Seman raped the girl and then set the Schmidts’ home on fire.

He’s pleaded not guilty.

Seman is charged with aggravated murder and is also facing rape, aggravated burglar and aggravated arson charges. He’s also accused of trying to bribe a witness in the rape case.

Seman could face the death penalty if convicted.
