ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - New York regulators are seeking public comment on a management plan drafted for the Lake Champlain islands in the northeastern Adirondacks.

Comments on the plan released Wednesday will be accepted through September 18. A public meeting will be held on August 20, at 6:30 p.m. at Clinton Community College in the town of Plattsburgh.

The islands are in the towns of Ausable, Peru and Plattsburgh in Clinton County and Crown Point, Chesterfield, Ticonderoga, Westport and Willsboro in Essex County. The islands include Valcour Island and five other islands.

The islands have 13 miles of hiking trails, 34 designated campsites and the Bluff Point Lighthouse on Valcour Island.

The plan calls for closing some campsites and relocating others.
