CANTON, N.Y. (AP) - A 39-year-old woman has been sentenced to up to 10 years in prison for scamming more than $300,000 from a priest and his former parishioners in northern New York.

Bobbie Jo Zeller of Norfolk was sentenced Wednesday in St. Lawrence County Court, where she pleaded guilty in January to grand larceny charges.

Prosecutors say between the fall of 2010 and early 2013, Zeller stole more than $300,000 from a now-deceased retired Catholic priest and some of the members of St. Mary’s Church in Waddington by claiming she needed money for a sick son.
