NORMAN, Okla. (AP) - Building coalitions and strategic partnerships is the theme of this year’s Turning Point Conference and Policy Day.

Sponsored by the Oklahoma Turning Point Council, the event will highlight effective community coalitions, strategic partnerships and relationship building and offer tips on creating a culture of health in Oklahoma communities.

The keynote speaker, Jessica Lawrence, will describe her 4,200 mile cross-country bicycle trip and how that experience taught her lessons in leadership and how to maintain a work-life balance.

Conference break-out sessions will provide tools to assist communities in local health improvement in the areas of prescription drug abuse and misuse, child nutrition, wellness policy, youth engagement, domestic abuse prevention, strategic partnerships, coalition leadership and best practices in coalition building.

The conference is scheduled Sept. 2-3 in Norman.
