MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - A Bloomington man has been charged in the shooting deaths of two men who prosecutors say were innocent bystanders at a Minneapolis park.

Hennepin County prosecutors said Wednesday that 23-year-old Antonio Jenkins Jr. is charged with second-degree murder in the July 25 shootings at Peavey Park. Authorities say the two victims, 24-year-old Abdirahman Jined and 20-year-old Jorge Zavaleta-Martinez, died the following day.

Charging documents say Jined and Zavaleta-Martinez were standing in the park near a group of gang members when Jenkins and another man approached the group. Charges say Jenkins began shooting, hitting Jined and Zavaleta-Martinez as others fled.

Jenkins’ first court appearance is scheduled Thursday. It wasn’t immediately clear if he has an attorney.
