SITKA, Alaska (AP) - Football season is over for Sitka High School, despite not a single game being played this year.

The Daily Sitka Sentinel reports (https://bit.ly/1McpEeT ) school officials announced that low turnout and safety concerns about the ability to get a complete roster forced the program to cancel the season.

Coach Beau Hedrick says the school has struggled to fill a team in recent seasons, with only 14 players on this year’s roster.

Hedrick says the team has been successful with fundraisers in recent seasons and that money is not the reason there will be no games.
