BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (AP) - A Southern California firefighter has pleaded not guilty to murdering his lover’s husband.

The Daily Press of Victorville (https://bit.ly/1InL5pk) says Jonathan Hearn entered his plea Wednesday in Bakersfield.

The 25-year-old Hesperia resident is accused of shooting Robert Limon of Helendale last August. Prosecutors say he was having an affair with Limon’s wife, Sabrina.

Hearn’s trial date was tentatively set for March 28 and his bail was set at $2 million.

Court filings indicated the two exchanged thousands of text messages, including one from Hearn suggesting they could be together if her husband was out of the picture.

Sabrina Limon initially was arrested in connection with the killing but was released for lack of evidence and hasn’t been charged.

Hearn is a firefighter in Redlands.
