VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) - Lamar Neagle scored for Seattle in the 72nd minute and the Sounders tied the Vancouver Whitecaps 1-1 in a CONCACAF Champions League game Wednesday night.

Tim Parker replied for the Whitecaps as both clubs opened Group F play.

Neagle scored off a free kick that looped over the penalty area to Andy Rose on the right. He sent a ball back into the box to Neagle and he fired a shot high over Paolo Tornaghi.

Parker gave the Whitecaps the lead 11 minutes earlier with a beautiful glancing backheel flick off Pedro Morales’ corner that beat a Troy Perkins to the far post.

The Whitecaps fielded an entirely different starting 11 from their 3-0 road victory over Seattle on Saturday in Major League Soccer, while the Sounders made eight changes.
