WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - Three arts organizations in Winston-Salem are working to create a National Black Theatre Hall of Fame and Museum.

The Winston-Salem Journal reported (https://bit.ly/1UpRntG) the North Carolina Black Repertory Company, the Arts Council of Winston-Salem and Forsyth County and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts are working on the project.

They hope the hall of fame and museum will bring tourists and economic development to Winston-Salem.

The Black Repertory Company has set a fundraising goal of $15 million for the project.

Chancellor Lindsey Bieman of the UNC School of Arts says he hopes the school can house the museum.
