MORRILTON, Ark. (AP) - A Greenwood woman has been found mentally competent to stand trial for manslaughter in the death of her 10-month-old son in the Ouachita Mountains.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports (https://bit.ly/1K52aCg ) that 22-year-old Brooke Sueann Floyd was ruled competent Wednesday after a report that says Floyd showed no symptoms of mental disease or defect was submitted to the judge.

Floyd has pleaded innocent by reason of mental disease or defect in the July 2014 death of Harper Alexander Floyd. The bodies of the boy and Floyd’s husband were found in the rugged mountains four days after Floyd was found alone in the forest.

Authorities believe methamphetamine-induced hallucinations led Floyd to abandon her son and husband. She has not been charged in her husband’s death.
