OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for her role in the 2014 slaying of a Logan County man in Oklahoma City.

Thirty-six-year-old Brandy Kathryn Hanson was sentenced on Wednesday for the slaying of 39-year-old Shawn Masters. She had pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and desecrating a human corpse as part of a plea deal.

According to prosecutors, Masters was beaten, stabbed and strangled in April 2014 before being placed in a trash can. Authorities say Masters was transported in the trash can to Logan County, where he was burned in a field in Guthrie.

Hanson and seven others were charged in Masters’ death.
