BELLEFONTE, Pa. (AP) - A man who spent more than two decades behind bars on charges that include the 1989 slaying of his wife is heading back to prison.

The Centre Daily Times (https://bit.ly/1PaL3n2 ) reports that 56-year-old Ryan Richard was sentenced to seven to 17 years on Thursday for threatening family members.

Richard pleaded guilty to killing his wife in Berks County in 1989. He was paroled in 2000, but was arrested months later after hitting three police cruisers with his vehicle while trying to escape arrest for a parole violation.

Steve Trialonas, Richard’s attorney, said he was disappointed by the sentence and plans to appeal for a new trial.
