ST. LOUIS (AP) - St. Louis police say a man shot in June has died of his injuries, adding to the city’s homicide toll.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch (https://bit.ly/1W5zUZo) reports that 36-year-old Cortez Hopkins of St. Louis died Wednesday morning.

He had told police that a man in car shot him in the stomach, groin, leg and arm while he was walking.

A suspect was identified and arrested. But there’s no immediate word on any charges.

Police say Hopkins’ case has been reclassified a homicide, and a follow-up investigation will be done.

Hopkins’ death is at least the 119th murder in St. Louis. That’s up more than 60 percent over the same time last year, putting the city on pace to have 200 homicides this year.
