BOUNTIFUL, Utah (AP) - A woman says she and her children were pulled over and handcuffed in Bountiful after police received reports of someone brandishing a weapon - a toy weapon.

The Deseret News reports (https://bit.ly/1ggOjRQ ) that Janelle Woolley says she was driving with her three children Friday when she was pulled over by multiple officers. She says they pointed weapons at her family and handcuffed and detained them for more than an hour.

Bountiful Police Lt. Dave Edwards says they received a call from an off-duty police officer who saw someone sticking a handgun out a vehicle’s window and pointing it at homes.

Woolley says her son was twirling the toy in her finger within the vehicle, which she says isn’t a crime.

However Edwards counters that the toy caused so much public concern it was criminal.
