ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A jury has found a Jemez Pueblo man guilty of murder in a woman’s December 2011 death.

Gavin Yepa was found guilty of murder in the death of 38-year-old Lynette Yazzie Becenti.

Yepa faces a mandatory life sentence.

Becenti’s mother, Wilda Toledo, told the Albuquerque Journal (https://bit.ly/1MctDXl) that the verdict offered no relief for her family.

Investigators say a witness in the case had also said Yepa had sexually assaulted Becenti.

Prosecutors say Yepa met Becenti in San Ysidro.

Yepa’s lawyer had argued another man who received immunity from the government was likely the true culprit.
