NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) - Authorities have arrested two teenagers in connection with the weekend shooting death of a 66-year-old Vietnam War veteran and former New Bedford veterans’ agent.

The Bristol district attorney’s office announced Tuesday that 18-year-old Alexander Mills and a 16-year-old boy are being charged in connection with the death of Donald DePina.

Police received a 911 call regarding an unresponsive man in the area of the parking lot at Brooklawn Park around 11 p.m. Saturday. The victim was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

DePina served as the city’s veterans’ agent from 1999 until 2002, but was more recently working as a cab driver.

Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive for the shooting.

Both suspects are scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday.
