SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Salt Lake City mayor-elect Jackie Biskupski is calling for the resignation of nearly all city department heads and all employees in the mayor’s office.

In an email to all city employees on Monday, Biskupski asked for the resignation of all directors except for Interim Police Chief Mike Brown and Fire Chief Brian Dale. She included a resignation letter template in her email.

Biskupski said in a news release Monday that it is a mayor’s job to review all appointed positions and make sure voter’s wishes are reflected “throughout city government.”

Biskupski’s transition team spokesman says the request for preliminary resignations is part of the mayor-elect’s effort to make the process fair and transparent for all city employees.

With each mayoral transition, all department directors typically go through a review process.
