IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) - The University of Iowa’s governing body is withholding details of a plan to rename a campus building, which is scheduled to be announced and approved within a matter of hours Wednesday.

Iowa Board of Regents spokesman Josh Lehman says the details of the proposal will be released at Wednesday’s board meeting, where regents are scheduled to vote on it in the afternoon.

He says the board is complying with Iowa’s open meetings law by giving notice of a proposed building naming but no further details. In contrast, the board released detailed records two weeks ago related to other agenda items.

The regents have typically named bulidings to recognize donors in the past. Lehman says some of those plans have also been announced the day of board meetings.
