JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The Jackson Zoo is celebrating the birth of a new baby.

WAPT-TV (https://bit.ly/1O1y7gR ) reports an orangutan was born Nov. 22 to parents Kimmie and Pumpkin.

Zoo officials announced on its Facebook page that they will hold a naming contest once the baby becomes more active and starts showing his personality.

The baby is the couple’s second. Their first son, Kayu, died in October 2014. The 6-month-old orangutan died of acute pneumonia. He was the first born at the Jackson Zoo.

Bornean orangutans are classified as endangered on the International Union for Conservation of Nature Red List, with fewer than 55,000 in the wild.
