PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A grand jury has indicted a Rhode Island woman accused of strangling her partner at a Middletown apartment.

The Attorney General’s office says the indictment charges 33-year-old Melissa Castle, of Burrillville, with murder in the death of Rachael Kilroy.

Police said they were called to Kilroy’s residence in August by a relative of Castle. Police said when they arrived at the apartment they found 34-year-old Kilroy on the second floor of the unit.

Police said Castle told them she choked Kilroy after an argument escalated into violence. Officials said the cause of death was homicidal asphyxia.

Castle’s arraignment is scheduled for Dec. 10. She remains held without bail.
