WEST UNION, Iowa (AP) - A sheriff’s deputy has been assaulted while attempting to arrest a man for trespassing on a property east of West Union.

The Waterloo-Cedar Falls Courier reports (https://bit.ly/1lVfBQN ) that 53-year-old Terry S. Mork has been charged with assault on a peace officer, criminal trespassing and interference with official acts.

Deputies were called to the property around 10:15 p.m. Wednesday on reports of a disorderly man.

Authorities say that when the deputy tried to arrest Mork for trespassing, he resisted and had to be taken down by deputies. Mork assaulted the deputy during the arrest. The deputy was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Mork was transported to the Fayette County Jail and later posted $8,500 bond.

It was not immediately clear if Mork has an attorney.
