BROOKHAVEN, Miss. (AP) - A 28-year-old man on probation for grand larceny faces a murder charge in the death of a Brookhaven woman he shared a home with.

Sheriff Steve Rushing tells The Clarion-Ledger (https://on.thec-l.com/1PXXBl8) Jeremy Cupstid has been booked into the Lincoln County Jail.

Brookhaven Police Chief Bobby Bell identified the victim as 32-year-old Tara Ashley Hudson.

Bell characterized the incident as “a domestic situation.” Police answered a call of a domestic disturbance at 1:51 a.m. Monday.

Police say Hudson was taken to King’s Daughters Medical Center, where she died.

Lincoln County Coroner Clay McMorris said the cause of death will not be released until he hears back from the State Crime Lab.

Bell and McMorris did say the victim wasn’t shot.
