LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) - Nebraska’s Justine Wong-Orantes is the defensive player of the year in the Big Ten and twin teammates Amber Rolfzen and Kadie Rolfzen are on the all-conference first team.

The Big Ten announced its postseason honors Tuesday.

Wong-Orantes led the conference in digs per set (4.57) during Big Ten play and becomes the first Nebraska player to be named defensive player of the year. The junior libero from Cypress, California, was named defensive player of the week twice during the regular season.

Nebraska’s Mikaela Foecke was a unanimous selection to the all-freshman team, and Sydney Townsend received a Big Ten sportsmanship award.

The Cornhuskers open the NCAA tournament on Friday in Lincoln against Harvard.
