NEW YORK (AP) - Authorities say a 3-year-old Bronx girl who was abducted by her father after stabbing the girl’s mother and fleeing in a vehicle to New Jersey has been found safe.

State police say 51-year-old Diomedes Valenzuela was captured early Tuesday evening after officers stopped his vehicle in Clifton, New Jersey.

Police say Valenzuela had fled with his daughter, Rebecca, after stabbing the girl’s 31-year-old multiple times at an apartment in the Bronx Tuesday afternoon.

Police say the mother was hospitalized in critical condition.

An Amber Alter issued for the girl’s disappearance has been canceled.
