CINCINNATI (AP) - A southwest Ohio sheriff’s deputy was hospitalized after he was hit by a car after responding to a previous accident on an interstate highway ramp in rainy weather.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office says Deputy Kevin Statzer was in fair condition with non-life-threatening injuries following the Tuesday morning crash at the junction of Interstate 74 and Interstate 275 west of Cincinnati.

Statzer and Deputy Larry Henderson had responded to a crash at about 10:30 a.m. when another car lost control, spun out and hit their cruiser and then Statzer. Henderson was hit by debris from the collision and was treated at the scene, as was the driver of the car that hit the deputy.

Both crashes are under investigation.
