EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - East Providence police have identified the woman who died in a kitchen fire in her home.

Lt. David Pacheco tells The Pawtucket Times (https://bit.ly/1lVxcYW ) that investigators think 93-year-old Margaret Raftery was cooking when her clothing apparently ignited sometime between Nov. 25 and Nov. 27.

Pacheco says Raftery’s clothing caught on fire and she couldn’t put it out. He says she died of her injuries in her kitchen and the fire went out by itself.

Neighbors checked on the woman Friday and could see water running inside but no one answered the door. Firefighters entered the home by force, to find the woman dead.

The fire was ruled an accident. An autopsy is scheduled.
