LOS ANGELES (AP) - Police say officers responding to reports of screams at a South Los Angeles apartment building found an injured teenage runaway from San Bernardino County.

Officer Ricardo Hernandez said Tuesday the teen girl is hospitalized in stable condition. Details of her injuries or how she sustained them are not immediately available.

Hernandez says police have not made any arrests or named any suspects. The girl is talking to investigators.

Hernandez says neighbors reported the screams early Tuesday.

Detectives determined the girl ran away from her home in Yucaipa and are looking into how she ended up 80 miles away in Los Angeles.
