TUSCALOOSA, Ala. (AP) - A 17-year-old suspect who police say abducted a young woman from outside a Tuscaloosa shopping mall before robbing and raping her has surrendered to authorities.

Police had been searching for the teen since the Friday morning attack. Monday, he turned himself in at the Tuscaloosa police department and is now being questioned. The suspect faces first-degree kidnapping, first-degree rape and first-degree robbery charges.

Tuscaloosa police say the victim, a 19-year-old woman, says she was in the parking lot of University Mall when the suspect asked to use her phone. She says he then told her he had a gun and ordered her to drive to an ATM machine and withdraw money. He then forced her to drive to an abandoned property where she says he sexually assaulted her.
