SAN ANTONIO (AP) - The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office has identified the owner of a unique lighter used by a deputy more than 50 years ago but recently purchased in Alaska.

Sheriff’s office spokesman James Keith says the owner of the lighter is former deputy Stanley Mitchell.

Former San Antonio resident Doug Williams had purchased the lighter in an antique shop in Anchorage, Alaska, and posted a photo of it on Facebook seeking its original owner.

KSAT-TV reports (https://bit.ly/1NkCEu4 ) that Mitchell had the lighter custom made when he worked as a deputy. It features a replica of his badge, including his name and badge number. Sheriff’s office investigators used the information and old employment records to track down Mitchell.

Mitchell says he lost the lighter at some point after retiring and moving to Alaska.
