SAN ANTONIO (AP) - Organizers say no refunds will be issued after a Thanksgiving week holiday river parade in San Antonio was canceled due to stormy weather, leaving some parade fans upset.

The San Antonio Express-News (https://bit.ly/1Im1aPD ) reports the annual parade had already begun Friday when torrential rain made the San Antonio River’s main channel through downtown unnavigable. The Paseo del Rio Association, which organizes the event, decided to cancel it because of public safety reasons.

The nonprofit says there was indication that there would be a significant chance of lightning.

This was the first time the association had to cancel to the parade in the event’s 34-year history.

Association spokeswoman Paula Schechter says the nonprofit has received about 100 emails from people who purchased the non-refundable tickets, which ranged from $15 to $40. Parade officials could not say exactly how many tickets were sold.
