LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas police say they arrested one of its officers seven weeks ago on a charge of soliciting prostitution.

Police said Tuesday that detectives arrested 36-year-old Bryce Jones on Oct. 11.

Jones has been with the agency since February 2004 and assigned to the downtown tourist safety division. Jones is on paid administrative leave pending the investigation’s outcome.

Police say detectives began investigating Jones in August.

The agency’s statement said no additional information would be released and there was no explanation as to why it made waited several weeks to announce the arrest. The statement notes Jones was sent to Las Vegas city jail but doesn’t say if he posted bond. Court records were not immediately available and it was unknown if Jones was represented by a lawyer.
