Police in Plano, Texas, are investigating after a Muslim family’s new home was vandalized two nights in a row this week.

Security camera footage captured at least one of the incidents in which a large rock is thrown through a back window and the shadows of three people are seen running away, a local CBS News affiliate reported. The shocked reactions from the people inside the home can be heard in the video.

The family, who did not want their name released, just moved into the east Plano home six weeks ago. They’re afraid they’re being targeted because of their religion.

“More than the damage — it’s not the window — it’s the terrifying factor of it,” the homeowner told CBS. “It is them trying to terrorize us or scare us. The kids are scared, they don’t want to go up or down alone.”

Police were called to investigate the matter.

The Council on American Islamic Relations’ (CAIR) local chapter is also assisting the family.

“Some of the patterns we’re seeing — the fact it happened multiple times in such a short period of time,” CAIR-DFW spokeswoman Alia Salem told CBS. “Right now, we’re getting multiple hate crime reports every single day.”
