MANHATTAN BEACH, Calif. (AP) - An anonymous threat has led officials to cancel classes at a Manhattan Beach high school and a nearby elementary school.

Students and staff at Mira Costa High and Pennekamp Elementary have been told to stay home Friday.

Police said a “specific” threat was made against the high school, but did not offer further details.

In neighboring Redondo Beach officers stepped up patrols near Redondo Union High School as police investigate whether graffiti found on campus is related to the threat.

It’s the second threat this week against Mira Costa. On Monday the high school was evacuated after someone called to report a bomb on campus. Students were sent home but a search turned up nothing dangerous.
