BETTENDORF, Iowa (AP) - The new owner of a landmark hotel in Bettendorf says he’ll probably tear down the building within months.

The Quad-City Times reports (https://bit.ly/1ReCifr ) the Russell Companies took control Thursday of the Lodge Hotel & Conference Center. The move came less than four months after the hotel shut down, forcing guests to leave.

Company president Jim Russell says he’s still analyzing options for the property, but the most likely scenario is that crews will tear it down in the next three to four months.

The company than would market the property for redevelopment.

Jim Reiter, Bettendorf’s economic development director, says it’s sad that the hotel, known for its distinctive Bavarian motif, will likely be demolished, but he’s eager to see Russell’s redevelopment plans.
