LOGAN, Utah (AP) - About 200 people rallied outside the Logan Islamic Center in a show of solidarity with the area’s Muslim community.

Justin Bishop was among the demonstrators at Friday’s event organized by Utah State University’s Interfaith Initiative. He held a sign that read, “This veterans stands with you.”

Bishop told the Deseret News (https://tinyurl.com/okfej72) he served in the military to protect everyone in the United States, regardless of their belief system. He says he’s tired of politicians telling him who he should hate and who he should like.

Erik Thalman, a member of Logan’s Muslim community who serves on the mosque’s leadership committee, expressed thanks for the outpouring of support. He says it sends a powerful message of unity at time others are trying to exploit divisions between Muslims and others.
