DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Fire officials are investigating what caused an early morning fire that damaged a Des Moines home.

Des Moines television station KCCI reports (https://bit.ly/1NMITM1 ) that fire crews were called to the house on East Eighth Street just before 4 a.m. Saturday. Firefighters who arrived on scene said they say they saw flames and smoke coming from the single-story house.

Officials say no one was home at the time of the fire, but they do believe someone lives there. Officials estimate the house sustained about $20,000 in damages.
