IDAHO SPRINGS, Colo. (AP) - Plans by the Colorado Department of Transportation to allow drivers heading east to Denver on Interstate 70 to try out the new toll express lane for free were canceled Saturday because of the weather.

The department tweeted it will try again Sunday if the weather permits. The delay was ordered because snow and ice covered numerous mountain roads.

When the toll lane officially opens, fees will range from $3 to $30, depending on traffic, once the testing period is over.

The express lane is expected to be open more than 70 days a year during peak travel periods, mostly on weekends and holidays.
