WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - A man has been arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing in Worcester earlier this month.

Police said in statement that 33-year-old Luis Melendez was arrested at a gas station on Chandler Street Friday afternoon and charged in the slaying of 31-year-old Cherise Hill. He had been the primary suspect.

Hill, a Worcester resident, was found lying on the side of Murray Avenue in the early morning hours of Dec. 2 suffering from multiple stab wounds. She died at the hospital.

The Worcester Telegram and Gazette reports video surveillance showed Hill had been walking with two other people when they suddenly attacked her.

Melendez, also a Worcester resident, will be arraigned Monday at Worcester County District Courthouse. It could not be immediately determined if Melendez had a lawyer.
