SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - The case could be dismissed against a man who was shot by police during a domestic violence dispute.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/1Y5D4zO) Ivan Clarence Kaumans entered guilty pleas to two counts of aggravated assault on Thursday. He has 36 months to obtain mental health and substance abuse evaluations and complete the treatment that is recommended in order for his case to be dismissed.

Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill ruled the shooting justified. Sandy police officers responded to a 911 call on Oct. 2 from a woman who said her husband was intoxicated, armed and threatening her and her son.

Officers arrived to find Kaumans armed with a rifle, which an officer says he aimed at authorities.

Kaumans was released Thursday after spending 69 days in jail.
