LOS ANGELES (AP) - Fire officials say nobody was hurt in a blaze at a recycling center that sent up a huge plume of smoke visible for miles across southern Los Angeles County.

Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department says flames were reported around 10:15 a.m. Saturday at the facility in an industrial area near the border with Torrance.

Dozens of fire trucks responded and a tractor unit was requested to plow through debris at the site.

The cause is under investigation.
