PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - Ramps connecting to Interstate 95 in downtown Providence will be closed through much of the weekend, as part of the work to replace the Providence Viaduct.

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation says two on-ramps, which connect Memorial Boulevard and Route 6/10 to I-95 South, will be closed for 30 hours. The closures are set to last from 11 p.m. Saturday to 5 a.m. Monday.

Also closing is the off-ramp at Exit 21 at Atwells Avenue. It will close starting Saturday at midnight so that it can be relocated. It is expected to reopen at 6 a.m. Sunday.

RIDOT says the new entrance to Exit 21 will be several hundred feet sooner and immediately after Exit 22. The new location will be in place for about a year.
