COLUMBUS, Ga. (AP) - A jury has convicted a Columbus woman in the death of her 18-month-old adopted daughter.

The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer (https://bit.ly/1OZgykt ) reports that jurors on Friday convicted Jennifer Long of murder and first-degree child cruelty.

Prosecutors told jurors that Long caused the child’s death in 2012 by slamming her against a changing table, causing a fatal brain injury.

Long testified earlier in the week that the baby fell off the changing table while she wasn’t looking.

The newspaper reported that a doctor testified that a fall from such a low height was unlikely to cause such severe trauma.

In closing arguments, Assistant District Attorney George Lipscomb demonstrated what prosecutors say happened by taking a foam doll and slamming it down on the changing table in the courtroom.
